The Goodsprings Elementary School, founded in 1913, is set to close after this semester. Clark County school officials found the expenses of keeping the landmark open could not be merited with the expected attendance of only 1-2 students next semester. Affinity Gaming also announced several businesses in Primm, such as the iconic Buffalo Bills and Whiskey Pete's, will permanently close in July. It is not clear what will happen to any of these properties in the future.
The Pioneer is partnering with Artists Addiction Records (NCIS, SAW, Stomp the Yard, etc.) and Buttered Popcorn Entertainment (Fallout Fan Celebration, BreastFest, Nevada Blues Festival, etc.) with the goal of releasing an album next year with original music by bands who perform at and/or have written songs about the Pioneer Saloon. If you meet these qualifications and are interested in participating, we are taking submissions via email at butteredpopcornllc@gmail.com (please put “Pioneer Album Submission” in the subject line) starting now until 12/31/2026. Restrictions apply. Only professionally recorded and mixed material will be considered. All submissions must be delivered in a WAVE format. Artists Addiction Records will take care of the mastering if the submission is accepted. Each artist can send up to 3 songs for consideration. We plan to pay industry standard rates for accepted submissions.
Pioneer enthusiast and Goodsprings resident, Dave Nordhof, created a new table he donated to the Pioneer Saloon and dubbed the "Pioneer Party Table". Dave supported the table top using a keg that Buffalo Trace created specifically for the Pioneer Saloon. The next time you're at the Saloon, be sure to have a drink at the new special table that owners hope will be a part of the property for the next 100 years.
